Population safe transport is essential anybody will tell you that, safe transportation is what everyone craves. People want to get from Point A to Point B in the safest possible way. It seems that the more cars that are on the road the more chance people have of getting themselves into unnecessary danger. There is public transport and that is what most people will think of when they want to travel safely. Think about which transportation you want to take.
The concept of freedom and going where you want, when you want is prevalent in American ideology, along with the whole "I want it now, I want it bigger and better and faster" notion. There is a history attached to American's desire to roam the country by car and to possess the freedom associated with a car that can take you anywhere at anytime. The Westward Expansion of the early 1900's and the countless tales of journeys traveling across the country are part of America's legacy. A commonly shared dream or goal of many United States citizens is to travel the country on an incredible road trip. The Grand Canyon is a popular destination along with many sites out West. There are entire sections in bookstores dedicated to traveling the United States by automobile. It is time for Americans to recognize and acknowledge that the massive quantities of fuel and natural resources that the United States uses is more than just disproportionate with the rest of the world; it is downright criminal. Without a system of population safe transportation, meaning a flexible efficient transportation system for the general population of America, the United States will continue to deplete the world's supply of oil as well as contribute to the destruction of the environment.
Of course, there are particular cities within the United States that do offer an adequate population safe transportation method. San Francisco for example has an extremely flexible efficient transportation system called the BART and is well used by most of the residents of the city. New York has a subway system that serves as a population safe transportation method. There are other U.S. cities that use monorails, buses, subways, etc... but there are not nearly enough.
Until people accept the current facts about the amount of natural resources projected to be available over the next 10, 25, 50 years there will be no change or growth in population safe transportation. Americans must move away from the concept of giant vehicles and driving everywhere whenever they desire. A movement must be made toward a realistic and practical approach to the worlds' diminishing natural resources. Progress in population safe transportation will only be made once the attitudes and preconceived notions are changed.
